The floating crane Rapaki, which Mr J. R. Hayward, at the annual meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board to-day, stated was not a necessary adjunct to the port. It represented £44,000 lying idle. However, Mr H Holland, M.P.. pointed -out that trade in 1927 was £3,688,221 greater’ than in 1917, and that Wellington hr.d followed the example of Lyttelton in providing a heavy-lift crane.
