CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS PARTY
A children’s fancy dress party was given by the North Beach Gala Committee in the Memorial Hall. There was a good attendance of children attired in a number of gaily coloured costumes. The following were the prize winners:—Boys Open: Best costume. Maurice Richards (Esquimau): most original, Leslie Richards (Robinson Crusoe). Under seven: Ray Harris (Petrol Bowser); Lexie Taylor (Mustard Club). Specials: Cliff Mahan (Jackie Coogan) ; Laurie Ross-Smith (Organ Grinder). Girls—Open: Mavis Brown (Eat More Fruit) ; Ruth Uren (Persian Prince). Specials: Jean O’Neill (Brownie): Dorothy Kelly (Lamp Shade). Under nine: Maisie Ross-Smith (Candlestick) ; Phyllis Norrie (Baker). Under seven: Joyce Brad bury (Sweetest Thing on Earth) ; Benda Mahan (Chicken). The judges of the costumes were Miss Mellon and Mrs Denton Mrs Ross-Smith presided at the piano, while Miss E. A M Leaver had charge of the afternoon tea arrangements. Mr F J. L.
