WIVES PETITION FOR DIVORCE.
CASES ARE HEARD AT GREYMOUTH. (Special to the "Star.”) GREYMOUTH, March 7. Two former Christchurch residents appeared at the Supreme Court before Mr Justice Adams with the object of securing a dissolution of their marriages. The first application was that of Alice Harriet Frost, who sought a divorce from Edwin Henry Frost, on the ground of wilful desertion. Petitioner stated that she was married to respondent on April 7, 1924, at Spreydon, Christchurch. They lived at Linwood for a time with a Mrs Alexander. About September 26, 1924, her husband said he would not make a home for her. He then left her, and she had had nothing from him since. In reply to his Honor, petitioner said that respondent had never maintained her. Mrs K. M’Vicar, of Mawheraiti, a sister of petitioner, stated that the latter had lived apart from her husband for over three years. She had worked for witness in order to maintain herself. She had not received one penny from her husband. His Honor granted a decree nisi with costs, to be made absolute in three months. Annie Gillingham sought a divorce from James Henry Gillingham. Petitioner stated that she was married on February 1,1909, at the Registrar’s Office. Christchurch. On December 3. 1923, separation and maintenance orders were granted at the Magistrate’s Court, Greymouth, on her application. She had not lived with her husband since. He was now over £3OO in arrears on the maintenance order. She had been working to maintain herself and children. His Honor granted a decree nisi with costs to be made absolute in three months.
