The Botanical Gardens were thronged yesterday afternoon, when a fine concert was given from the memorial rotunda by several bands competing in the contest. A variety of splendid selections was given by brass and pipe bands. Rolleston Avenue was lined with cars, as was Riccarton Road, where many preferred to enjoy the concert from their cars.
