GREATLY ENJOYED STAY IN DUNEDIN.
HON W. FORGAN SMITH IN CHRISTCHURCH. The Hon W. Forgan Smith, DeputyPremier of Queensland, and Minister of Agriculture and Stock in the Labour Government, returned to Christchurch from Dunedin last evening. To-day at noon he will be accorded a civic reception by the Mayor, the Rev J. K. Archer, in the City Council Chamber. He will remain in Christchurch until next Monday, when he will leave for Wellington. In an interview last evening, Mr Smith said he had greatly enjoyed his stay in Dunedin. He had visited a great many places of interest, and had also seen a good deal of the surrounding country. He had also had an opportunity of visiting the Roslyn Woollen Mills, accompanied by Mr J. Sutherland Ross. He was very favourably impressed with the mills and the high quality of the goods manufactured. Mills of that type must be a valuable asset to the Dominion, and should be supported to the full extent by the people, as besides adding to the wealth of the country, they provided avenues of employment. While in Dunedin Mr Smith was shown round by the Mayor and Mr T. K. Sidey. M.P , and -other prominent citizens, and he received every courtesy and hospitality. He stated that he would carry away with him very pleasant memories of his visit to that centre. Mr Smith is accompanied by Mrs Smith, their two children, and his private secretary, Mr G> Hope.
