Forestry work at Hanmer and Balmoral is proceeding satisfactorily, according to the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon O. J. Hawen). He states that the recent dry weather has affected the nurseries which, considering this drawback, are looking very well. Planting at Hanmer is almost completed. The Department had adopted a policy of planting trees as the land is acquired, instead of adhering to the former practice of maintaining expensive nurseries
