MAN WHO ARRIVED WITH EARLY SETTLERS DIES AT AUCKLAND.

(Special to the "Star.”) AUCKLAND, February 4. The death occurred of Mr William Culpan. aged 87, at Parnell this morning. ITis parents came to Auckland with the Scotch settlers who arrived in 1842 in the ships Duchess of Argyle and Jane Gifford. Mr William Culpan retired from the position of accountant to Hesketh and Richmond, solicitors, ten years ago. For a long period he was organist at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He was also the oldest member of the Auckland Bowling Club and a founder of the Old Colonists' Association. He is survived by two sons, and one married daughter.
