CROQUET TOURNEY AT UNITED CLUB REACHES FINAL.
The Christmas crouet. tournament at the United Club is now nearing the end. and the games and competitions are rapidly finishing. The semi-finals in most events have been reached, a.nd the tournament should finish early to-mor- I Tite first final, that of the Izard Memorial, a senior doubles event, was played early this morning, and a very interesting game gave the victory to Mrs E. A. Johnson and H. J. Williams. Winning the toss, they started off well, but after somein-and-out" play, T. F. Chambers took control of the game with a beautiful four-ball break to the pen-ultimate, and Mrs Maddren steadily advanced her clip to four-back. Williams and Mrs Johnson then took charge. Chambers got in a. long shot and pegged Mrs Johnston out. but after a nice exhibition of placing Williams shot his in to finish. Results: OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. Semi-fiual—Mrs E. A. Smith* 2. T. F.
