Christchurch, are spending the holidays with Mr G. S. Smith, Willowbank, Ashley. , The Misses Edith, Carrie and Dora Little, of Maori Hill, Dunedin, are spending a holiday at ‘ ‘Wynnwood,” Raukapuka. Geraldine. Mr and Mrs E‘ G. Peek, of Wellington, are spending the holidays with Mts Peek's parents, Mr and Mrs S. A. James, Westenra Terrace,- Cashmere Hills, Mr Peek, who is a well-known entertainer in Wellington, been engaged to broadcast frorri 3YA during his stay in Christchurch..

Miss Margaret and Miss Mary Mackenzie. of Dunedin, are spending a holiday at “ IVynnwood,” Raukapuka, Geraldine.

Mrs G. Garland (Springston) is touring the West Coast, and ,is at present the guest of her niece, Mrs T. Xankivell, Greymouth.

Dr and Mrs L. A. Line (Wellington), and Miss Freda Line, who came to Christchurch for the Black—Prebble wedding, leave by to-morrow's express to spend a fortnight's holiday in Timaru.

The engagement is announced of Ada Orme, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. J. Archbold, 19, Maxwell Street, Riccarton, to the Rev Herbert 11. Bruhn, 133, Chester Street, only son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Bruhn, Northgate, Brisbane.

A pleasant evening was spent recently at the residence of Mrs Morrissey, 20, Huxley Street, Sydenham, to celebrate the engagement of her daughter Theresa to Mr Frederick Hickinbot-, tom, of New Brighton. Games were played and dancing was indulged in to the music of a gramophone. Mr Gray sang several Scottish . songs, which were thoroughly enjoyed. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames Gray, Morrissey, Armstrong . and Bartlett, Misses Armstrong (2), Morrissey (4) and Rose, Messrs Watson, Hickinbottom, Fleet, Morrissey (3), Masters lan Gray and Bonny Morrissey. The evening ended with a dainty supper.

Miss' D. A. Knowles and Mrs *C. Kirk, of Clayton-le-Dale (Blackburn). England, arrived in Auckland per s.s. Aorangi, after a tour on the Continent and America, and have just completed a tour of New Zealand, including Rotorua and the Franz Josef Glacier, and were very much impressed with the many inspiring scenes. They left Christchurch last evening for the Waitomo Caves, etc. They leave Auckland on January 2 on the Niagara en route for Sydney and South Africa. They spent the Christmas holidays at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Langdon, jun., Yaletta, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Ralph Beaufort, of Christchurch.
