RECORD ENTRIES IN HANDICAP EVENTS

The annual sports gathering: of the Temuka Caledonian Society took place in the Temuka Domain on Tuesday, and the meeting: wa.s one of the biggest and most successful that the society has held. Two championship cycling events, the half-mile and two-mile South Island championships were included in the programme, and among the competitors were Phil O'Shea and W. Mackie. Record entries were received for the handicap running and cycling events, including some of the foremost competitors in the Dominion. The wood-chop-ping contest was a special feature of this year’s fixture, and provided a great amount of -interest. The weather was fine, but there was only a fair attendance at the Domain.
