“CHEVROLET GANG” ARE SENTENCED.
RESPONSIBLE FOR MANY CRIMES IN DUNEDIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 19. Prisoners sentenced at the Supreme Court to-day were:—Allan Rueben Barnett, aged 21, on five charges of breaking, entering and theft, attempting breaking and entering, four charges of theft of postal pafckets, and three charges of arson, was sentenced to five years’ reformative detention; William Henry Martin, aged 20, on four charges of breaking, entering and theft, attempted breaking and entering, three charges of theft of postal packets, and three charges of arson, was sentenced to three years' reformative detention; Alex Hodges, aged 17, for breaking, entering and theft, was sentenced to three years’ detention in a Borstal institution. The prisoners were members of what is known as the Chevrolet motor gang and have yet to come up for sentence in the Lower Court for conversion of motors. Stephen James Giles, aged 21, on a charge of carnal knowledge, was sen tenced to twelve months’ reformative detention.
