HARBOUR BOARD REGATTA HELD.
SMALL ATJF.N DANCE, OWING TO WEATHER,
The. Lyttelton Harbour Board Jubilee Regatta was held at Lyttelton this afternoon under threatening weather conditions, which prevented a larger attendance than would have been the case under ideal conditions. A light sou’-west wind did not affect the water in the inner harbour to®any extent, and there was sufficient wind outside the moles to suit the sailing events.
YOUTHS' PAIRS. Sumner-Redcliffs No. 1 .... T Lyttelton 2 Avon No. 1 3 A good race between first and second Won by a length. SENIOR PAIRS. Canterbury .1 Union No. 1 2 Akaroa 3 Canterbury a.nd Union led at the start a great finish between the placed crews ending in favour of Canterbury, with Akaroa a similar distance behind Union. JUNIOR PAIR OAR. Star (Wellington) 1 Canterbury 2 Avon No. 3 3 A good race. Won by three-quarters of a length. MAIDEN PAIR-OAR. Sumner-Redcliffs No. 3 .... 1 Union No. 1 2 Lyttelton 3 Won on the post by about a foot, with Lyttelton a length a.way, half a length in front of Canterbury. YOUTHS’ SINGLE SCULLS. ' Star (Wellington) 1 Akaroa 2 Lyttelton 3 Eight started. A great race between the placed boats. Won by three-quar-ters of a length. Akaroa was second by two feet, with Cure a length away fourth. MOTOR BOAT RACE, under nix knots. Erena (lmin) 1 Takeha (7min) 2 Koratere (6min) 3 Won by lmiu. SENIOR DOUBLE SCULLS. Canterbury 1 Union 3 Won by a length. A fast finish. Cure beat Union by a quarter of a length, Avon close up fourth. Six started.
