MADE TWELVE CENTURIES IN SEVENTEEN GAMES. In contemplating the succession of centuries that W. 11. Ponsford is running up against Australian bowling, and the suggestion that there has never been a period in which that bowling was weaker on first-class wickets, wc have one consolatory thought—that the Victorian centurymaker will probably continue the good work begun in 1934 against England in the test matches (states “Not Out” in the Sydney “Referee”). ordinary batsmen run into the forties. Four years ago he played in his first match for the Sheffield Shield, and today he has made over 2654 runs. He has, moreover, compiled twelve centuries in seventeen matches.
