AMBULANCE AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.
A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury and West ('oast centre of the St John Ambulance Association was held last evening; present—Mr J. A. Flesher (chairman), Mesdames H. 11. Smith, S. A. Watkins. Lieutenant Colonel F. B. Creswell, Messrs 11. L. Bowker. W. J. LeCren, W. T. Charlewood and C. J. Treleaven (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Bishop West-Watson, Sir Heaton Rhodes, Miss Ironsides, Messrs A. S. Leigh, J. W. Hillary and Dr J R. Thomas. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, Mr J. A. Flesher; treasurer. Colonel F. B. Creswell; auditor, Mr F. H. Caverhill; executive, the chairman, treasurer, Mrs 11. 11. Smith and Mr 11. L. Bowker. The financial statement was adopted. It was decided to hold the presentation of certificates next Wednesday evening, and to ask Sir Heaton Rhodes to make the presentations. At the conclusion of the ceremony a film will be shown on Red Cross work during the war.
Mrs K. M’Donnell wrote thanking the ass<x*iation for the free use of an ambulance. The secretary remarked that it was the. first occasion that a letter of appreciation had been received for such a case
