The hydraulic river sweeper has )w reached a point about a hundred irds above the Union Rowing lub’s sheds, where the greatest fficulties of its trip down the Avon ive been met with. Practically all the water is flowing 1 the northern side of the river, id while the sweeper is working 1 the southern side there is very ttle wash for getting the debris A-ay. The consequence is that conderable difficulty is being experiiced in getting rid of the silt. Jusf slow the nozzles of the water jets le depth cleared out is about 4ft. it at the back of the dredge the spth is only about 2ft., due to a aod deal of the' silt remaining beind.
