COMPLAINS OF BLOCKAGE OF CARS AT ROYAL SHOW

Motorists passing into the Show Grounds on the occasion of the Royal Show at Addington caused a blockage of Lincoln Road which brought a complaint from the city traffic inspector, Mr H. Macintosh. Correspondence was received at the meeting of the committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association yesterday from Mr Macintosh, stating that traffic had been blocked on Lincoln Road on People's Day at the Royal Show, due to the congestion of cars in front of the vehicular entrance to the Show Grounds. He asked that steps be taken to obviate a Similar blockage at future shows. Mr J. O. MacGillivray said that there was only a temporary congestion. “ The traffic inspectors forget that we must get the money from these motorists before they can get in," he .said. “This sort of thfng can’t be obviated." Mr R. W. Lockhead: All these people were not going to the show, either. It was suggested by one member that an extra -man should be put on the gates at the rush period. Mr W. Hayward: We’ll have to allow them in off Westenra Street instead of Lincoln Road. On Mr W. 11. Nicholson’s motion, it was decided that the matter be refer red to the Grounds Committee.
