BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY.

A “ coin afternoon ” in aid of th# Opawa branch of the British Sailors* Society was held at Colonel Smith's residence, “ Riverlaw,” on Tuesday afternoon. A large number of Guild members (including Mrs Thacker, president of the Christchurch Guild, and Mrs Bishop, president of the New Brighton Guild), with their many friends, ‘pent a delightful afternoon in the beautiful grounds, where tennis, archery and other games were indulged in. Delicious afternoon tea and straw- ! berries and cream were dispensed during the afternoon, and the music from iMiss Middleton’s orchestra greatly added to the enjoyment.
