SLEPT FEW YARDS FROM THE POLICE.
ESCAPED PRISONER RESISTS RE-ARREST.

The escaped prisoner, William Henry Grant, was recaptured at 11 a.m. to-day at the’ rear of the Church of Christ, in Ponsonby Road. Although suffering from an injured leg sustained in his dropping from the Mt Eden Gaol wall, he offered a show of resistance to two arresting constables. Grant slept in Western Park, only a few yards from the Newton Police Station.
