FRANCE AND JUGO—SLAVIA SIGN TREATY.

Briand and Marinkoivitch. have signed a treaty of friendship and arbitration. and jointly issued a. statement that both countries intended to work in full harmony with ‘the League of Nations, It was brlieved that the treaty would strengthen the economic bonds of the two countries and the treaty was based on their unbroken friendship. The text would be published after it was registeredwith the League Secretariat. Iv. would then be seen that the Treaty did not aim at any country, but entirely conformed with the principles of the League. It might even be a germ of a new Locarno. The Italian Government has been kept informed of the negotiations.
