REX BEACH STORY FILMED AT GRAND.
It has become an axiom among lovers of the movies that the best pictures are those that are taken from a good novel. Time and again books proved to be acceptable to the public have turned out to be wonderful screen successes, and in this type of film it is always the stories of the out of doors that are most popular. This week at the Grand Theatre there is an example of this truth. Jt is the screen version of Rex Beach’s famous tale, “ The Barrier." It is ideal for the screen, the story of Arctic adventure and two lovers who overcame the age-old barrier of blood. The principal parts are taken by Marceline Hay, Lionel Barrymore and Henry B. Walthall. The production of the picture is wonderful, the storm scene being one that will live in the memories of the audience. An excellent comedy and a news reel complete the programme. Acceptable items are played by the Grand Quality Orchestra.
