CATSWHISKER REPLIES.

To the Editor. Sir.——-" Concert Artist." says that my views are out of all proportion. If, then. my remarks re artists’ names are withdrawn, will he agree that my complaints regarding 3YA programmes are well founded? I would point out that m suggesting an improvement in programmes I mentioned certain people whose entertainment represents the class of item that meets with populari approval. I did not use you: valuable} space {or eulogy. as “ Concert. Artist"l did. I would like to ignore “Concert; Party's" puerile attempts at ridiculefl but for his benefit alone I would point out that some humorous sketches, reci-i tations. dialogues and dramatic pas‘ sages can be as successfully rendered; per medium ofvwireless as they can by; the performer in person. He mightjust as well say that it is useless to read a book because the characters exist only 'n thL mind of the reader. Possibly his‘ reading consi_ts in an oocasional visit‘ to the pictures to see a picturised verision of some novel or play. If he were‘ ‘qualified to speak on such matters,‘ ‘which I very much doubt, then hel ‘would know how potent is the power‘ of suggestion. A visit to Al6xanderl MVatson's recitals would have convincedl him of this. No, sir. I am convincedi ‘that “Concert Artist's" knowledge of‘ stagecraft is conspicuous by its absense, and I am forced to conclude that he should stick to his threepenny sketches.'—-I am. etc..
