INTRUDER FLOORED WITH HEFTY SMACK.

MAN WAS TIED UP AND HANDED TO POLICE. (Special to the “Star. ") AUCKLAND, June 24. Following a desperate encounter in the dark at 10.30 last night, Mr Hull Kinloch, of Three Kings, Mount Roskill, captured a man in his house, and, with the assistance of his two sisters, tied him up with a rope, strapped his feet, and handed him over to the police. As a result, Norman Selwyn Connelly, aged 37, appeared in Court this morning and was remanded till June 30 on a charge of breaking and entering and the theft of two coats and a rug, of a total value of £4 17s. Mr Kinloch stated that when it was apparent that an intruder was in the house he commenced a search and saw a man dart behind a curtain. Not knowing whether the man was armed, he decided to rush him. Blows were exchanged, but Kinlock floored Connelly with a powerful smack.
