SALE OF TICKETS FOR CHARITY DAY MATCH.

MAYOR ASKS CITIZENS ALL TO BUY FREELY. The bulk of the proceeds of the Charity Day match at Lancaster Park on Saturday, between Old Boys and Christchurch, will be devoted to the Citizens’ Unemployment Fund, and a big effort is to be made to raise a large sum of money. The Mayor stated to-day that he had arranged with a number of ladies to sell tickets for the match in the streets to-morrow, and he trusted that the public would respond freely. The match was certain to be a particularly interesting one, and all money given to the unemployment fund would earn a subsidy. By purchasing tickets the public would be able to see a display of first-class football, and would also assist people in need as a result of ion employment.
