WEDDING.

M 'LEAN—NICHOLLS. A wedding of interest took place last Wednesday in the Church of Holy Innocents, Amberley, when Ella Nicholis. second daughter of Mr and Airs W. A. Nicholis, of “ Grampians,” North Canterbury, and lvowhai At’Lean, younger son of the late Mr A. Al’Lean and Mrs Al’Lean, of “ Alountain Aleadows,” Amberley, were married. The service, which was choral, was performed by the Rev W. F. Knowles, Christchurch, and Aliss Rhodes presided at the organ. The church was tastefully cjecorated with bronze chrysanthemums and fern, and a floral bell was suspended over the altar. The bride wore a graceful frock of cream georgette, • with long tight-fitting sleeves and deep silver beaded fringe hung from the low waist-line to the hem of the frock. Tier veil of filmy tulle was arranged from a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of cream freesias and fern, with a bunch of long narrow streamers. AJiss Hilda Nicholis, chief bridesmaid, wore an apricot panne velvet sleeveless frock and a smart coatee of the same material. She wore a coronpt of flowers to tone in her hair, and carried a posy of chrysanthemums with narrow streamers. Aliss Rata Al’Lean, sister of the bridegroom, wore a pretty frock of heliotrope panne velvet and georgette. The bodice made of the velvet was slightly shirred with a full skirt of georgette, with a deep band of velvet at the hem. She wore a coronet of flowers to tone, and carried a posy of chrysanthemums with narrow streamers. Little Alary Tiller, niece of the bridegroom, was a dainty flower-girl in a frock of blue and pink crepe de chine. She wore a wreath of flowers round her hair and carried a posy of flowers. Mr Pawsey, Christchurch, was best man, and Air A. George was groomsman. A reception was held in the Amberley Hall. The guests, who numbered about two hundred, w r ere received by the bride’s mother, who wore a black crepe de chine frock with Oriental trimming, cyclamen panne velvet hat with brilliant ornament, a musquash coat, and carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and fern. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black marocain frock with hand-worked coloured embroidery, a seal coat and a black satin marocain hat with small flowers trimming, and carried a bouquet of dark chrysanthemums. During the afternoon Piper Shields (Christchurch) played several bagpipe selections, which were highly appreciated by the guests. When the bride left for her wedding tour she wore a frock of new blue rep with apricot cuffs and collar, pleated panel in front of frock, small blue hat with a bunch of ostrich feathers at the side, and carried a navy velour coat with grey fox fur.
