FUNERAL OF THE LATE REV MOTHER M. ST JOSEPH.

The funeral of the late Rev Mother Mary St Joseph (Davies) took placd this morning at Lyttelton. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Joseph Church at 9.30, the Mass being sung by Bishop Brodie, who was assisted by a choir of ten visiting priests, who sang the Gregorian music of the Mass. There was a large congregation present, including visitors from Christchurch, as well as a number of sisters of Orders in Christchurch. At the end of the Mass the Bishop preached on the life oi the late Rev Mother, taking for his text, “Blessed are they who die in the Lord.” The Rev Father T. Ilaron was Deacon, the Rev Father Madden was Sub-Deacon, and the Rev Dr Kennedy was master of ceremonies. Despite the heavy rain, a large number, including children from the Convent of Mercy, followed the cortege to the cemetery, where Bishop Brodie performed the last rites. The pall-bearers were Messrs Thomas Groves, J. and JJ. Mannix, and J. Quinn.
