VON LUCKNER AGAIN ON WORLD CRUISE.

NOTED FOR ESCAPE BY LAUNCH FROM AUCKLAND (Special to the “Star."’) . SYDNEY, June 10. There was an interesting reunion in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Captain Mawson, master of the Makura, met Count von Luckner, and Lieut. Kirchess, with whom he became acquainted on board the Talune after their capture during the war on the island of Wakaya, in the Fijian group, where they landed from the German raider, See Adler, which was wrecked on Lord Ilowe Island. Von Luckner and his officers were brought to New Zealand by the Talune. They subsequently brought off a remarkable escape from Auckland by launch, and headed for the Kermadecs, but were recaptured by an armed party on the steamer Iris. The German four-master schooner A aterland with von Luckner in command, w r as at San Francisco at the same time as the Makura, and in command of another visitor to the port was Kirchess. i he V aterland is on a world cruise, and will visit Australia. Von Luckner gives lectures at each port.
