POSTER HOARDINGS BANNED BY CIVIC RULERS OF OXFORD.

LONDON, May 2 Oxford civic authorities have decided that posters are “neither an improvement nor a necessity in a modern city.” TheV hold, also, that poster hoardings are “an obstruction to safe

and convenient passage along the streets in our district." On these grounds they have sent : round to the persons concerned with posters a notice calling upon them to remove the hoardings specified on a schedule. This will affect a large number of biils on come of the very oldestablished posting stations in the city. The action, which is being taken under the Towns Improvement Act, 1847, is to be contested by the Master Printers’ Association, the Bill Posting Company and certain entertainment firms who are affected.
