“I happened to be going along a road the other evening and had to pull over to allow another car to pas?,” said Mr E. 11. S. Hamilton at last night's meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board, “and I nearly ran into an unlighted heap of metal. It was only a fluke that I missed it.” Mr T. \V. Beanland said that contractors ran a plough through heaps left to level them, but some were left unlighted which should be lighted. Mr IT. J. Otley, the chairman, said that the trouble was that contractors were losing a lot of lamps and they cost Ss 6d each. It was decided to take action in the matter.
