CLEVER HOAX WORKED AT SOCIETY WEDDING.

BOGUS INVITATIONS WERE ISSUED WIDELY. LONDON, June 6. A cunningly-devised hoax resulted in remarkable scenes at to-day’s fashionable St Margaret’s (Westminster) wedding, when the daughter of Lord Kylsant, the big steamship owner, the Hon Honor Phillips, was married to Mr Gavin Henderson.

Hundreds of bogus invitations were sent out to diplomats, leading officers in the civil service, theatrical celebrities, journalists, and members of charitable, religious and welfare organisations, includmg the Salvation Army. The hoax was discovered owing to the short notice of the invitations resulting in many telephoning, regretting their absence, also to a number of those invited not knowing the bride and bridegroom, seeking the reason for the invitations, which were perfeet copies of the originals.
