Charlie Purdy (9st 81b), fought a draw with Tommy Fairhall (9st 81b) last night in fifteen rounds. The bout opened tamely, but livened m the sixth. Fairhall then had a slight advantage, but Purdy forced the fighting in the remaining rounds, using both hands. He appeared the winner at the opening of the last round, but Fairhall rallied and made it a draw. The majority favoured Purdy.
