CRICKET.

I 1 NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. ’ I The management committee of the 7 New Zealand Cricket Council met last evening, Air D. Reese presiding. - it. was decided to agree to the suggestion of the Otago association to make ' use of the services of Mr Hay while 1 the latter was in England to secure the services of a coach for the Otago association. Arising out of the t«ur of the Alel- ’ bourne Cricket Club, the secretary reported tha.t the association was £4 5 - ' down on the tour. Taking into con- - | sideration the amounts still to come in 1 there was a sum of £9O to be divided pro rata among the associations Applications for refunds had been rer ceived from several associations. In the case of Alanawatu they were owing £75, due to the fact that they had two wet days. On paper the profit on the test matches to the council was £BOO. ’ The South Canterbury Association wrote asking for a rebate. The amount owing was £7O, which the South Cani terbury association said would have to be collected from its clubs. The chairman said the position would not be satisfactory if the council showed £BOO profit on the tour while all the associations were showing a- loss. Air Donnelly said he thought the Alanawatu association should be met in the matter. The remainder of the discussion was ; taken in committee. Some discussion took place on the advisability of Inviting a South Austra--1 Han team next year. Air Winsor doubted the advisability of ; doing so. He considered that a New South Wales or Victorian team would always be a better attraction. The chairman said that if it were not for the English visit to Australia in the following year he would be in favour of letting the visit stand over for a year. As it was, however, to miss next year would mean losing two years. It was decided to inquire if South Australia "would accept an invitation to New Zealand in February and March next, the team to arrive in the first week in February. It was decided to stress the fact that the inclusion c star players would be essential. • Cabled advice was received that the New Zealand shares of the gates at matches in England were:—M.C.C., £124; Essex, £l3 5; Cambridge, £9O; Aliddlesex, £246; Royal Navy, £42; Sussex, £92 It was decided to invite the opinions of associations on the proposal that the J annual meeting of the association should be attended by direct Relegates from the various associations. The suggestion was that the expenses of the delegates to the first meeting should be borne by the council, the method of financing future meetings to be decided at the N.Z. CRICKET, LTD. A meeting of New Zealand -Cricket, Ltd., followed. A statement of the applications for shares showed the total to be 11,370, with forty-five promises, making a gross total of 11,415. The applications were: New Zealand Cricket Council . . 1000 New Zealand Football Association 3 00 Melbourne Cricket Club 300 Canterbury Cricket Association .. 4581 Auckland Cricket Association . . 2111 Wellington Cricket Association . . 1698 Otago Cricket Association 467 Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association 475 Waiapu Cricket Association .... 552 Southland Cricket Association .. 119 Feildlng 64 Wanganui 6 8 Wairgrapa 30 West Coast 5 AshbUrton v 5
