WHO WILL GO TO ORANGE CELEBRATION?

"Should it not be July 12.'' ” asked Councillor IT. X. Armstrong, M.P., at last night’s meeting of the City Council when a letter was received from the Loval Orange Institution extending an invitation to the Mayor and Councillors to attend their July Celebration Church Service on July 10. The Mayor (the Rev J. K. Archer) said he hoped that if the councillors accepted the invitation they would endeavour to attend the service. Councillor M. Lyons suggested, amidst laughter that Councillor D. G. Sullivan, M.P., and Councillor IT. T. Armstrong. M.P. should be asked to represent the council at the service. There was further laughter when Councillor Armstrong said “no” to a motion that the invitation be accepted. However, Councillor Armstrong had no supporters and the motion was carried.
