The Electricity Committee reported at last night’s meeting of the City Council that it had had before it correspondence between the Municipal Electricity Department and the superintendent of the Fire Brigade, who had intimated that it might be necessary, in the event of a fire, to cut off supply from the districts affected. The committee was of opinion that the board’s practice in the past, of disconnecting the house concerned, was all that was needed. The matter would be the subject of further correspondence.

In connection with the proposal of the Reserves Committee of the City Council to re-cultivate Elmwood Park, owing to the existence of grass grub in the turf, the Christ's College Old Boys’ Association recently wrote asking the committee to reconsider its decision, and offered certain alternative suggestions which it considered might be adopted to combat the grub. The committee has decided to hold over further consideration of the matter pending an inspection of the park, to bo made to-day.
