BAN AWAY F3WM CONSTABLE. WELLINGTON, June 21. Last week a house in the city was broken into, and some money md tram tickets#were stolen, after vhjch the house was set on fire. The owner of the house notified Lho tramway authorities, and information about the missing tickets v\as passed on to conductors. This morning if” conduc tor of a cityjuuiitl suburban car noticed a passenger bearing a ticket whose number corresponded with that on one of the missing tickets, and he informed a constable, who was also on the tram, of his discovery. The man walked off the tram quietly in the constable’s company, but had ;one only a few' yards when suddenly he ran off. The constable immediately pursued him, and n.l- - the man went out of sight round a corner, he was recaptured within a few minutes hiding in a doorway in Brandon Street. lie was taken to the police station, and will be charged in the Court to-morrow with breaking, entering and theft.
