FRED COOKE SAYS SEE NAPLES, AND THEN GET FUMIGATED.

BUT FOR VESUVIUS, WOULD BE DEADLY. Mr Fred R. Cooke, from whom a. card has been received date 4 Southamjjton. May 11, writes on a postcard of Naples:— “This card gives a good idea of the narrow streets of Naples. The death rate of Italy is 17 to the 1000, but I should guess the death rate of Naples is above 20 to the 1000, judging by the odour. Vesuvius fumigates the place, or it would quickly die out.” An article by Mr Cooke on Naples will appear in Saturday’s “Star.”
