Advice has been received by the City Council from the Canterbury Education Board that, at the request of the Beckenham School Committee, the board recently applied to the Education Department to transfer to the council part of the Beckenham School site, comprising approximately 14.5 perches, for the erection of a public library. The Department has given its consent to the proposed transfer on condition that the council will meet all expense in connection with it and give an undertaking that the site will not be used for any purpose other than the erection of a library building. The council at its meeting last night agreed to accept the offer.
