At the annual meeting of Goldsbrough, Mort and Companv, the chairman, Mr Niall, said: "Australian wool is tending to deteriorate and sheep numbers (without allowing fur drought losses in Queensland, estimated at 7,000,000 to 8,000,000) are 13,000,000 less than in 1891. These figures have led some people to think that the industry is in an extremely prosperous condition and that certain politicians were attempting to introduce legislation to reduce the area of land being used for sheep-growing. The figures, however, were misleading.”
