APPEAL FOR £1,000,000 MADE IN ENGLAND. By Telegraph,—T’ress Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and X.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, April 30. The Duke of York is sponsoring an appeal for £1,000,000 fund on behalf of national playing fields. The movement is being launched on June 1. It aims to provide a minimum of five acres of public open space for every 1000 persons. At present ninetyfour towns with a population of 7,000,000 possess a football ground tc every 8000 people, a cricket pitch for every 11,000 and two tennis courts for every 12,000.
