DRIVER OBJECTS TO LOCAL BY-LAWS.
CAN GET NO PEACE WITH TRAFFIC RULES. Apparently, as far as Nobel Frank Loundes is concerned, Christchurch lacks much of the charm with which its name is commonly associated. lie thanks his Maker that ho can set away from it. In some respects he thinks the citv is too advanced. This attitude of his was made apparent in the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr K. D. Mosley, S.M.. where Loundes was charged with leaving a car parked without lights. Loundes did not appear, and the Chief Inspector, Mr 11. Macintosh, produced a letter which he had received from Loundes. stating that he had left the car behind others that were unlighted also, not thinking that he was committing an offence. The following Words concluded the letter:--“Thank God I am mostly away from . Christchurch. and can enjoy a little peace occasionally in Lambton Quay or Queen Street. However, i do not wish to offend, and will do my . best to observe your, may I say, ! ultra modern by-laws.” Loundes was fined 10s and costs.
