MR J. GAMBLE WILL STAND FOR MAYORALTY OF NEW BRIGHTON.
A large and very representative deputation of residents of New Brighton waited on the Mayor, Mr J. Gamble, on Saturday night to ask him to consent to again become a candidate for the office of Mayor, and Mr Gamble ac-
ceded to the request. Among the speakers were Messrs F. D. Muirson, E. A. M. Leaver, R. Cargeeg, W. Miles, J. lyl’Creanor, R. Johnson and the Rev W. F. Knowles, and others supported those speakers. On Friday night a deputation from the New Brighton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, representing about 200 women of the borough, waited on Mr Gamble with a similar request, and he then advised the deputation that he would give his answer on the following night.
