WOMAN DIES FROM INJURIES CAUSED IN STREET SMASH.

(Special to the " Star ”) AUCKLAND, February 28.

Severe injuries to the head and arm sustained through being knocked down by a. taxi cab in Upper Queen Street on Friday evening, resulted in the death of Miss Emily Owen, single, aged thirty-five. The accident occurred opposite the Women’s Christian Temperance Union hostel. The taxi was proceeding down Queen Street when it struck Miss Owen as she stepped from the kerb. She was admitted . to . the Auckland Hospital shortly after seven o’clock, and died at an earlv hour yesterday morning. Miss Owen lived at Grafton. She had a, brother in Christchurch, and was being visited bv a sister from South Africa.
