LITERARY HIGH TREASON NEWEST GERMAN CRIME.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received Februarv 28. 12.25 p.m.) BERLIN, February 27. A new crime known as Literary High Treason" was established as a result of a series of judgments at Leipzig trials. It arose from condemnation of four Communists’ books, but the tribunal extended liability for these to an amazing extent, imposing heavy sentences and fines on the booksellers, the owners of the printing works, the foreman. clerk, compositors and even the messenger, holding that all should have recognised the matter as seditious, yet no action was taken against the actual authors.
