PROMINENT FARMER FATALLY SHOT.

February 25 A wHI-krown farmer, Walter William Tones, was found dead at the front of his house at Mangaronga. twelve miles from Otorohanga. with a gunshot wound in the forehead, on, Saturday, at. 5.30 p.m Deceased was the son of “ Mokau” Jones, who took a prominent, part in the early history of Mokau and Awakino. Deceased was for the last three years at Tauranga, where he took a prominent, part, in local politics Lately he purchased a farm at Whang aronga, where the tragedy occurred At the inquest on Sunday, a verdict was returned that deceased died from a gunshot wound, there being no evidence to show haw it waa inflicted.
