MISTOOK INSPECTOR FOR SALVATION ARMY MAN.
What is the connection between Inspector Cross, of the City Council traffic staff, and a Salvation Army officer? The point was raised by Charles E. Scown this morning, when he appeared before Afr E. D. Aloslev, S.M., on a charge of riding a bicycle without a light. When the inspector signalled Scown to stop the cyclist did not obey, and Inspector Cross was obliged to chase him. After his capture, Scown said, “ Oh. I thought you were a Salvation Army officer.” He did not explain, however, why he. took flight when a supposed member of the Army beckoned to him. The mistake cost Scown 10s and costs.
