and Ural la led past the stand from Gold 3tep, Archibald, Pentagram, and Peter Rosa. Entering the back stretch Pendennis had a good lead from' Pentagram, Peter Rosa and Gold Rep. Crossing the top Peter Rosa began to move up and was on terms with Pendennis as they turned for home, with Pentagram and Ural la next. Peter Rosa (Holland) went on to win by a neck from Pentagram, who beat Pendennis by half a length. TJralla was fourth.

In the Shaftesbury Rack the order of favouritism was Awarere, Valkon, and Abess. When the field settled down Tea Time and Venus Abbey were in charge from Billikin, Quinsilla and Respirator. Tea Time a.nd Venus Abbey were first to turn for home from Awarere, Winsome Boy and Constellation. In the run to the post Awarere (W. Bagby) beat Tt?a Time by half a length, with Quinsilla three lengths further back third. Bitlikins was fourth.

In the Somers Handicap Flying Juliet was soon in charge and led all the way. Entering the straight she was attended by Macroom, Kins; Arch and Phaola. Flying Juliet (Keesing) had no difficulty in going on and beating Macroom fiy two lengths and a half, with King Arch two lengths further back third. Catelaw was fourth.

In the Juvenile Handicap besides the favouritism indicated for the placed horses, Golden Wedding was second choice. Exalted was the quickest to begin, and led across the top and into the straight from In the Shade, Auri-

cuius and High Tide. At the distance In the Shade (Bagby) took charge and beat Exalted by a neck, with Auriculus three lengths away third. Then came H«"b 'T’ido nnd Master Oloments.

In the Cup, Hay Guard was soon in front, and Jed along the back from Barometer, Town Bank, Miss \ era, Pegaway and Pelham. Entering the straight, Hay Guard was attended by Barometer, Pelham, Eden Hall, Helightment and Pegaway. In a good finish Pegaway (M/Tavisli) beat Hay Guard by half a length, with Eden Hall a similar distance away. Pelham was fourth.
