BANKRUPT ADVISED TO PAY SOMETHING OFF LIABILITIES.
REQUEST FOR DISCHARGE ADJOURNED BY JUDGE. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, February 26. “ It looks as if there has been misfortune in this case,” said Mr Jusice Herdman yesterday when the application of Hugh Gamble M’Crea for discharge came forward. “ You do not suggest there has been any dishonesty, do you?” his Honor asked the Official Assignee, who replied: “No, it is just a question of whether a man in receipt of £lO 5s a week should be allowed to go free unconditionally.” His Honor said that it appeared that debtor since he had entered the walls of the Bankruptcy Court had been contemplating matrimony. Bankrupt, who conducted his own case, said he wished to get the. requisites of a home together. It was uncertain how long the allowance that made up his £SOO a year would continue.
His Honor adjourned the case for six months, and advised bankrupt in the meantime to endeavour to make some contribution to his creditors out of his income.
