NOTES. The annual conference of the New Zealand Poultry Association -will take place in Auckland next -week. The. following delegates have gone from Christchurch: Messrs G. If. Bradford, _T. Biggins, W. E. Green, W. T. Green

Mr Bobbitt, of Papanui, is to be congratulated on the birds he has in the present competition. His flock team have scored the highest points for show specimens, and one of his single birds is classed as the best bird in the competition. It is pleasing to see new competitors doing so well. A Christchurch poultrykeeper has received a letter from a friend foretelling “a wonderful time” at the World’s Poultry Congress at Ottawa from July 27 to August 4 next. The hospitality at these Canadian conventions is truly remarkable. The Christchurch Poultry Club met on Monday night, Mr G. E. "Jeffreys presiding over a large attendance of members. Correspondence was received from Mr W. B. M’Kenzie, offering the North Island Macquarie Shield for competition at the. club’s June show 7. The offer was accepted and a heart 3” vote of thanks to Mr M’Kenzie was car--1 ried. From the Christchurch Flying | Club, slating it was arranging a race from St. Andrew’s in connection with the show. From Mr R. H- Ma 3% donating £1 Is to the funds. From the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club, stating that it had accepted the offer of the Christchurch Poultry Club for the services of Mr J. W. Giles to judge its show, also asking for particulars of judges for the canao' sections. This matter was left over till the election of judges on March 14. From Mr R. W. Brown, Dunedin, asking for particulars of the Victory Shield and championships. The secretary stated he had replied giving all the information required. It w T as decided at the request of the Rangiora Poultry Club, to postpone the return cricket match for a month as the members were still busy with the harvest. It was decided that the next meeting ■will be held on Monday, March 7. The Canterbury Bantam Club will meet on Monday' night in the Christchurch Poultry Club rooms, Lichfield Street.

Mr J. D. Gobbe has been elected to judge* the' Westport Poultry Club's annual show, to be held on Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 25. Mr W. Mabley, the well-known breeder and judge of fanc\' pigeons, is an inmate of the Christchurch Hospital. Fanciers wish him a spced3' recover}'.

The South Island YVandotte Club will meet on Saturday night. Nominations will be taken for judge at the June show. The annual meeting of the South Island Leghorn and Minorca Club was held in the Christchurch Poultry Club rooms, Mr P. E. Sprosen, president, in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The balance showed the club to be in a good financial position. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr P. E. Sprosen; vice-presidents, Mrs F. W. Anderson, Messrs F. W. Anderson, J. W. Green, C. W. Bell (Rangiora), H. L. Sprosen (Dunedin), A. E. Wogan (Dunedin), H. G. Cranfield (Methven), R. H. Loy (Ashburton), T. S. Dove (Riccartoji), R. Pearce, R. Wilson and T. Kennedy (Rangiora), E. Parkins (Ashburton), W. H. Robinson (Ashburton), H. F. Roderick (Lyttelton), T. 11. Wilce (Waimate), F. C. Hack (Riccarton), 11. Hearfield (Palmerston North), J. Cummings, J. Rattigan and R. W. Coombes (Dunedin) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. D. Gobbe; auditor, Mr V. Bedwell. Messrs W. Giles (Australia, open classes Leghorns and Minorcas), and Mr W. J. Chambers (utility classes Leghorns and Minorcas) were nominated as judges for the club’s show to be held in conjunction with the Christchurch Poultry Club’s- annual fixture. It was decided to adhere to last year’s specikl prize list, with the additioit of a £2 2s cup for the best White Leghorn, utility section, to be won twice. It is the intention of the club to continue the education evenings after the show, the speakers to be selected b>' the secretary and the president. The following members donated special prizes:— Messrs W. J. Chambers, 10s 6d for the best utility Leghorn or Minorca; MrP. E. Sprosen, most points Utility Brown Leghorn section; Mr F. C. Hack, to be allotted. An honorarium was voted to the secretary.

Mr T. A. Bowles, late of Auckland, and now a resident of Christchurch, who has been a large breeder of fancy pigeons up north, intends taking up the fancy again here. The well-known fancier proposes to go in for Fan tails and Muff Tumblers. The United Pigeon Fanciers’ Club met on Wednesday night, Mr G. H. Bradford presiding over a very large attendance of members. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr W. Mabley in his illness. It was decided that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr MTlardy for his careful selection of the birds sent out to the members of the club, also that a donation of £1 be made to the caretaker of the birds on the boat, members stating they had arrived in wonderful condition. Several of the pairs had already mated and were sitting on eggs. A good deal of discussion took place on the ring question, and it was decided to ask the poultry clubs to allow the imported birds to compete in the old birds sections at the shows. The club received an offer of £2 for the boxes the imported birds came out in from England and it was accepted. The following judges were nominated for the pigeon sections at the Poultry Clubs:—Diamond jubilee show, Tumblers and Fantails, Mr W. Fraser; Magpies, Mr W. Bailey, Wellington; all other varieties, Mr W. B. M’Kenzie; all junior classes, Mr T. Jones. During the evening the imported pigeons recently obtained by the club were on view and created a great deal of interest. The secretary stated that there promised to be a very large order for another shipment, to arrive about November. A table show of Self Tumblers was held during the evening, Mr H. Wiltshire judging the birds in place of Mr W. Mabley. Results: —Black Tumblers, F. W. Chambers 1,2 and special, M'Quarrie and Smith 3. Red or Yellow Tumblers, M’Quarrie and Smith 1, C. P. Bradford 2, G. IT. Bradford 3. The New Zealand Rhode Island Club will, hold a table show for pullets on Saturday, March o, in the Poult rv Club rooms. A meeting of the club will be held after the show.
