CANADA ALARMED OVER INFERIOR SEED WHEAT.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association.

(Received Februarv 26, 12.15 p.m.) OTTAWA. February 25. That the mixing in transit of inferior varieties with Marquis wheat has so menaced the standard of the whole Canadian crop abroad on the Liverpool market that it ranks below Oregon brown wheat was the- startling statement. made to the Parliamentary Agricultural Committee by Major ,H. G. Strange, president of the Canadian Seed Growers Association. The committee decided to recommend legislation to prevent licensing new varieties known to be inferior. Mr Strange added that the Pool Board favours revoking licenses for wheat proved valueless, and he instanced Vermillion sold in Alberta as being of poor milling quality. He suggested that pools should check the quality.
