OTAHUHU TROTS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 23. The Otahuhu Trotting Club’s summei meeting is concluding in glorious weather. before a large, attendance. The track is in splendid order. Results:— SUBURBAN HANDICAP, (In harness). Of 300 sovs. Two miles. I—Petroleuse, 72yds bhd 1 6™Peterson, 84yds \ 2 2~- Gold Star, 12yds 3 All started. Won by two lengths, four lengths between second and third. Time—4min 48sec. NEWMARKET HANDICAP (in harness), of 3GO sovs. One mile and a half. 1— Maggie Pronto, ser 1 B—Florent, 12vds behind 2 4 Van Rich, 24yds behind .... 3 All started. Won by four lengths, a short head between second, and third. Time—3min 27 l-osec. SYLVIA PARK HANDICAP (in harness), of 300 sovs. One mile. 1— Rcy Logan, scr 1 2 Jean Darling, scr 2 3 Goldfinch, scr 3 All started. Won by a short neck, two lengths between second and third. Time—2min 16sec. NOTES ON THE SACKS. In the Suburban Handicap. Petroleuse was favourite, with £694. Gold Star being second choice with £594. Floraline carried £482 and Peterson £247. Red Dennis began quickly and soon established a commanding lead. When they came past the stands for the first time Red Dennis was well clear of Petroleuse and Tui Bells. Coming round again Red Dennis still in front from Petroleuse, while Peterson was now up in third place. Gold Star and Bridget Galindo being next. Along the back Petroleuse went to the front from Peterson, and from then onwards the result was never In doubt, Petroleuse winning by two lengths from Peterson, who was four lengths in front of Gold Star. Bridget Galindo was fourth, followed by Red Dennis, Floraline and Kolmar. Times—4min 48sec, 4min 47sec, 4min 55 3-ssec. For the Newmarket Handicap Maggie Pronto £565, Taipare £536, and Gold Dial £534, were most fancied. When the field settled down Maggie Pronto was in charge, attended by Charming Pronto, Uramic, Manna, Red Star and Florent. When they came past the stand again Maggie Pronto was well clear of Uramic, Florent, Manna, Charming Pronto, Red Star and Admiral Lock. Along the hack Florent had run up second to Maggie Pronto, with Uramic, Van Rich and Manna next. Maggie Pronto was first to turn for home from Van Rich, Florent and Uramic. and had no difficulty in winning by four lengths from Florent, who beat Van Rich by a short head. Uramic was a length and h half away fourth, followed by Gold Dial, Admiral Lock, Red Star, Taipare and Manna. Times—3min 27 l-ssec, 3min 28 3-osoe, Smin 27 4-sse.~, NELSON RACES. Per Press Association. RICHMOND. February 23. The Nelson Jockey Club’s race meeting commenced at Richmond Park to-day in fine weather. The track was hard. The attendance was fair. The Gore Racing Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in good w*eatheri The track was in good order. There was a large attendance. Results:— HURDLE HANDICAP Of 140 sovs. One mile and a half. I—Cartoon, 11.0 1 4 Ivapuna, 11.5 2 7—Calibration, 9.5 3 Scratched: Coastguard, Thistledown. Won by a length, three lengths between second and third, lime—2min 48sec. RACING CLUB HANDICAP Of 250 sovs. One mile and a quarter. 1 — Vaward, 7.13 1 4—Bilbo, 7.0 2 2 John Bradbury, 8.12 3 Scratched: Courtly Rose.
