CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Air H. A. Young, S.AI.) DRUNKENNESS. A statutory* first offender for drunkkenness was* fined 10s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. VOLUNTARY APPEARANCE. Alfred Hadler made a voluntary appearance on a charge of having cycled on a footpath and was fined 20s (no costs). William James Cree was charged with having failed and intending to fail to provide adequate maintenance for Lily Elizabeth Cree. On the application of Detective-Ser-geant Young, defendant was remanded to appear at Invercargill on Wednesday, January 26. Bail was allowed in the sum of £IOO and one surety of £IOO. TRAFFIC BREACHES. (Before Air E. D. Aloslex-, S.AI.) For cycling at night without lights Leo Barrett, Cecil Cairns. Samuel Ellis, Frederick F'ox, Alec Al’Cracken, Basil Nicholson and Ernest Sibley xvere each fined 10s. For leaving a car unlighted at night, Albert Bradley* xvas fined ss. For cutting a corner, William Russell xvas fined 20s. For cycling at night without a light, Edward Risk was fined JOs and for cycling on the footpath he xvas convicted and discharged. For leaving a car unattended, William T. Wright was fined 10s. For cycling on the footpath, Francis Laurenson was fined 10s. For having an unregistered trailer on a motor vehicle, Benjamin Aloore was Ordered to pay costs. Arthur Mantell, on a charge of driving an unregistered trailer, xvas convicted and discharged. ORDERS GRANTED. Alfred Richard Downing was ordered to pay £2 a week for the maintenance of his wife and £lB as past maintenance. Guardianship and separation orders were also made against defendant. APPLICATION DISAIISSED. Albert Foote made application for the cancellation of a maintenance order in favour of his wife. Fanny Foote, on the ground that he was prepared to provide a home, and that she had left him without just cause. The application xvas dismissed.
